Here is an excerpt from the article: “Golf evokes visions of putting greens and driving ranges, but Roy Khoury 04 (B.S. kinesiology) is one of the few looking to transform the world of golf by incorporating fitness and exercise into golfers training regimens.
Khoury has evolved from a physical therapist aide to the president of RFK Training and a Titleist Performance Institute-certified golf trainer since graduating from Cal State Fullerton.
I always imagined working for myself, Khoury said. I realized that working in a typical gym with a bunch of equipment is not where I wanted to be.
The Southern California Section PGA held their 2011 Spring Summit at Mission Viejo Country Club. The event was attended by over 60 teaching professionals from across Southern California. During the afternoon lectures RFK Training was featured presenting on the Golf Fitness and the Joint by Joint approach to healthy movement. The event was a great success!
The second half of the lecture included a breakout portion in which RFK Training discussed mobility assessments that can be done on the range including ankle mobility, hip internal rotation mobility and thoracic spine and rib cage mobility.
Thank you Nikki Gatch and the Southern California PGA for allowing RFK Training to lecture at the 2011 Spring Summit! Â It was a great experience and we hope to be apart of it next year!

Maintaining athletic posture and proper balance during your swing is imperative to hitting solid golf shots consistently.
It’s easy to say this, but not as easy to implement it.
Truth is, most people can’t be taught how to maintain posture and balance because they’re physically limited by poor flexibility and a weak core. If you can’t naturally turn your shoulders and release your hips, you either will lift or sway to create a sense of power during your swing. Those movements hinder a consistent swing and solid contact.
What I have done — and you can, too — is routinely practice simple exercises to improve my flexibility and core strength. I’ve enlisted the help of my golf fitness trainer, Roy Khoury of Newport Beach-based RFK Training, to explain five simple exercises that can improve body awareness and allow you to strengthen certain movement patterns.

Roy Khoury, the golf fitness instructor with a Newport Beach facility I wrote about three months ago, is back in the news and this time his reach is greater. The 29-year-old Irvine resident has partnered with the Southern California PGA…
